Privacy

New Zealanders need to have trust and confidence in the way their information is being managed and used by government agencies.

The government takes all aspects of privacy and security very seriously.  In this section agencies will find guidance and resources to build and sustain their capability in managing privacy.

The Government Chief Privacy Officer has issued core expectations that represent good practice for privacy management and governance in the State services.  A Privacy Maturity Assessment Framework has also been developed to help agencies assess their existing capability and implement appropriate improvements.  The expectations and the Privacy Maturity Assessment Framework were developed and tested in collaboration with privacy practitioners from across government. Download a brochure that outlines the expectations and the Privacy Maturity Assessment framework here [74.1 kb PDF]
