APCO P25 communication standards
At its meeting on 13 March 07, the e-GIF committee approved the inclusion of the following APCO P25standards into the e-Government Interoperability Framework:
Recommended for adoption (immediate)
- Common Air Interface (CAI)
- Analog FM transceivers
- Digital P25 Phase 1 transceivers
Recommended for future consideration (3-10 years)
- CAI for FDMA trunked digital systems
- Inter subsystem interface (ISSI)
- Fixed station interface
- Data peripheral interface
- Fixed host data interface
- PSTN interface
- Console subsystem interface
The actual standards consist of TIA 102 series of documents and the purchase of these standards is subject to an annual fee. Therefore the NZ Police as the lead agency have purchased a complete copy of the standards which are subject to copyright. NZ Police will allow other agencies to view these documents as required.
The NZ Police will maintain the standards. The NZ Police will be implementing the APCO P25 suite of standards over the next couple of years. Agencies will migrate to the APCO P25 suite of standards at their own discretion; when their existing contractual agreements expire or as equipment needs replacing.
Please make all enquires regarding the adoption of APCO P25 into the e-GIF through egif@dia.govt.nz
The following documentation outlines the process and evaluation of the above recommended standards. The documents contain diagrams and pictures that are unable to be converted into HTML, but have been made available in RTF and Word. If you are unable to access these documents, please email egif@dia.govt.nz with your concern.
